This past April, not only did I get to be a part of a beautiful elopement (if you haven’t already seen it, click here), but I also had the opportunity to test the waters as an Iceland travel photographer. My partner Luke came along for the adventure, and when we stepped off the plane, we were faced with something we weren’t expecting…sun.
Lots of it. The entire week. How lucky are we?!
Anyone who knows me knows I travel….a lot….and Iceland has always been one of those places I knew I wanted to visit, but I thought I would have to wait. I would think to myself, “Maybe I could go there someday”. I never expected I would be turning 29 as we hiked up a mountain in that same place. All of our hotels were sensational. The food was amazing (but it sure is pricey…no, really…$20 for soup was average). Looking through these photos makes me want to hop on the next flight back. It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and I hope to travel there again soon….maybe even for another elopement!
Links to our wonderful hotels and some sites can be found at the bottom for when you plan your own trip. I would recommend getting groceries as soon as you arrive and book all your accommodation way ahead of time (I’m talking months, not weeks). Camping is a great option to save some money and bring many layers! This is the perfect place if you like to get out and explore. Around every corner is something beautiful. A waterfall, a mountain, a glacier. You never know what you might find!
As you scroll through the photos, if you look very carefully, you might spot Luke. Think of it as an Icelandic version of “Where’s Waldo?”. I’m also in a couple but I’m a little easier to find….
Enjoy!
